iOS 4.3.2 was released only a few weeks ago and it has already been jailbroken for all devices (except one) with Redsn0w and PwnageTool (the one that unlockers have to use to keep their baseband unmodified). So all is great in jailbreak land? Sadly no, the except one is a biggie. A jailbreak for the iPad 2 still has not been released. This is despite the fact that well known hackers MuscleNerd and p0sixninja have been looking into it. Their tweets have mentioned that the bootrom is inside the A5 chip. I have no idea what that means other than it requires a lot more reverse engineering to crack. Apple is getting better at making their devices harder to jailbreak, but I’m sure someone will jailbreak in the not so distant future. Actually, back in mid March comex posted pictures of an iPad 2 running Cydia. Sadly, as you can see in the tweet displayed he may not even be working on it anymore. While some people are angry about this, hackers are strange people that get off on solving puzzles. If he’s bored with iOS hopefully Apple does something that interests him or maybe Geohot comes out and releases a jailbreak. I’m confident it will happen as the number of iPad 2′s on the market is growing rapidly. Basically there is no choice other than to be patient like me and appreciate how simple the jailbreaks are once released to the public.
